Cybersmart 8 bit art

 Today in cybersmart with Mr. Goodwin we were assigned to compete quality blog comments. Mr G has been tracking our comments since two weeks ago. Ocean had the most post and won a healthy bar of kitkat. We all learned how to create our own digital Mario 8 bit art, as well as our own piece. I created a Mario I really like making 8-bit art with Mr. Goodwin

Caged bird chaos-KOS's Central idea in tone

 Caged Bird Central Idea and Tone 

Group members: 

Focus: Critical Questions for Understanding Poet’s Purpose - Useful link 

LI: identify and critique the author’s intention for writing; identify symbols and inferences in writing; 

SC: identify tone; diction; poetic devices; describe impact or intended effect. 

1)Identify the speaker of the poem: The speaker of the poem is the caged bird who sings for freedom but is not heard/ignored as he longs for still for the day to come.


2)What is the speaker’s tone?: The speaker is speaking in a negative tone as the caged bird is singing with a fearful trill and seldom seeing through his bars of rage.(Those are holding him back).There are 4- paragraphs and 2+ paragraphs.


3)What vocabulary is used (diction), which reveals the speaker’s tone?:The negative vocab it has is how the caged bird is singing/ with a fearful trill and the bars of rage.His feet are tied so he can’t lift off and his wings are clipped which this all reveals the tone.There is more i can’t say


4)What is the connotation, implied or true meaning of each word ?: The meaning of Grave of dreams is a dream that will never come true such as they are exploring but they are trapped in something like inside a huge wall and can’t get out.Singing with a fearful trill means the voice of the bird is modified like a seagulls but with a lot more fear to it.


5)What stanzas are repeated? Stanza 3 and 6 are repeated showing how much the caged bird wants freedom but the caged bird can not have it as the caged bird is being ignored over and over again singing to be heard one day. 


6)Why are they repeated? Because it explains that the caged bird wants freedom and how the free bird is living the best life in the clouds and dipping his wings in the rays of the bright sun.Sometimes to people freedom is the last hope and last resort.


7)Identify FOUR symbols from the poem which are used to stand for bigger ideas than their literal meaning? The Caged has a representative of the people being trapped as the free bird can represent the leader and the mastermind behind keeping everyone in.The cage represents where they are stuck or a country then the songs of freedom represent the people trying to stop something from happening so they can be free.


8)What is the central idea of the poem?: The voice is the caged bird singing for freedom that he longed for.The imagery is two birds ; one is free and wants to claim the sky and the other is trapped within real bars and bars or rage. These are two elements of the central idea


9)State central idea in one sentence: The caged bird is the person being treated how they don’t want to be treated either being imprisoned or becoming slaves of a certain country or person which now they want to be freed from their nightmare.This all highlights the differences between being trapped and being free. 


Last question: Based on what we know about Angelou’s life, what are the possible connections between Angelou’s life and her poem “Caged Bird”? She was the caged bird that was singing for freedom and wanted to tell the world how people treated her race.

Origami

 For reading we had to make 3 origami things to post on our blogs. I made a cube box, butterfly and a popper. For the cube box I had to use 3 different papers but had to use 1 paper for the others. My favourite out of the 3 is the popper cause it pops. I love origami

For Samoan language week we had to bring something Samoan to present in front of all the classes.I made a slide to keep for the next years i'm in this school. I made 1 slide on it because the other slides are for the next year and next. This will defiantly be something that will help me learn my culture

Sailing

 On June 3rd 2021 room 7 and 1 went sailing at Okahu bay for the whole school day. 

I had so much fun at sailing and it was my first time wearing new uniform. We had to change first obviously and then we had to eat morning tea. I was in group 1 so we went on the speedboats first. It was so fast I thought we were going to flip cause the front of the boat was lifting up. We went past the light house and we went under a bridge I was on a boat with Sosefina and Ngahuia. Ngahuia kept splash me and Sosefina so we were so wet once we got out.

Next we had to stay on land and learn how to tie a rope 3 different ways. We also got to do competition and I won all of them and Poni tried to cheat by pulling my rope.

Next we had lunch and group 3 came back late and had a little bit of time to eat lunch. Last my group had to do the optimist I did it solo and so did Ngahuia.
This is me going into the optimist solo. I was nervous and I was hopping not to fall out. Next was ngahuia then Poni and Pita were in the same boat. I ended up in the water because Pita and Poni filled my boat up with water and I fell backwards.
My uncle Sonny was about to go in but missed the boat and ended up in the water.

We took a cool photo with one of the instuctors.




  

What if

Today's writing session was a fun and silly one. Writing can be fun and silly, but things that shouldn't be silly in our writing includes accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar - thanks for lesson and reminder, Mr Goodwin!

If I was invisible

 If I was invisible it would be amazing

If I was invisible I would steal lots of fidgets from people who stole my fidget.I would also steal school supplies I know I am weird but I like school supplies. Last but not least I would steal food and drink.

If I was invisible I would break into houses and chill in the house like I own it.I would break into the airport and fly to hawaii and I would be on vacation.I would also fly to Samoa and Tonga.

If I was invisible it would be amazing

This weeks writing task was a free-verse poem about "my grandad's  hand".We practised using semi-colons, a range of sentences are using better vocabulary.Our poem are based on an original poem written by Gary Oconnell. I chose to write about mother because she was someone very special to me
